VALLE D’AOSTA: ENCHANTING CASTLES, NATURE’S PARADISE AND MOUNTAIN FLAVOURS

Milan. Breakfast at the hotel and departure on the tour bus. We will go to the Valle d’Aosta and have lunch in a restaurant in the old village of Issogne. In the afternoon, the accompanying person will take us to the Castle, seat of the Counts of Challant. Afterwards, a short stop for a walk in Saint-Vincent, a famous resort town since the mid-19th century. In the evening we will arrive at the in hotel in Chatillon for an overnight stay and the dinner.

Chatillon – Breakfast at the hotel. The day starts with the guided tour of Fenis Castle, a Medieval jewel in the woods. We will then arrive in Aosta for a visit to the town centre with a local guide. The city has Roman walls and we can see the Arch of Augustus, the Porta Pretoria, the Roman Theatre and the church of Sant’Orso. After the optional lunch, we leave for the Gran Paradiso Park, with a stop in the panoramic orchards and vineyards of Aymavilles, under the cerenellated castle of the Challant family. The afternoon continues in the Park with tour by a park guide in this former hunting estate which became Italy’s first national park in 1922. The walk, lasting about two hours, goes through the habitat of the Alpine ibex and thick vegetation with larch, Swiss stone pine and red spruce woods. In the evening we will go back to the hotel in Chatillon for dinner and overnight stay

Chatillon – Breakfast at the hotel and then we will dedicate the morning to a trip by cable car to the magnificent glaciers of Mont Blanc; in case of bad weather or closing, the cable car trip will be replaced by a walk with the accompanying person in the valleys of Mont Blanc. Before lunch we will take a pleasant walk around Courmayeur, the pearl of the Alps. In the afternoon we will see Sarre Castle, where King Victor Emanuel II set out for hunting. The accompanying person will take us to discover the 13th century manor. In Chatillon a typical dinner awaits us.
Return to the hotel and overnight stay

Chatillon – breakfast at the Hotel – Departure in the morning for Valpelline, woth a stop in one of the cheese factories for tasting the famous Fontina cheese, the “white gold” of the valley. We will then go on to the village of Arnad, where with a stop in a local cellar for wine-tasting. After lunch, in the afternoon we will vissit the Bard Fort and the Museum of the Alps. Then back to Milan – check-in at the booked hotel for dinner and overnight stay

Milan – Breakfast at the hotel, check out and departure for the return to Rome
