What to Expect

A Tour to enjoy the wonders of Umbria, the land of a thousand hues, rich in fascination and mystical in spirit; with its famous Controlled Origin wines like Grechetto and Sagrantino and the intense green of the locally produced extra-virgin olive oil, this tour will be an unforgettable experience to enjoy gourmet delicacies and works of art. We will stop at a wine cellar in the Cannara area, visit the vineyards and enjoy wine-tasting; then lunch on a farm with an olive press and tasting toasted bread with fresh olive oil.

Itinerary

Day 1Rome - Orvieto - Perugia

Departure from Rome from the agreed place. Arrival in Umbria and stop in Orvieto, for a guided tour of the beautiful town renowned for its wonderful and characteristic Gothic Duomo and for its Etruscan and Roman roots. Lunch in a restaurant – Departure for Perugia, arrival in the evening check-in at a 3-star Hotel, dinner and overnight stay

Day 2Perugia - Spello - Torgiano - Montefalco 

Perugia. Breakfast at the hotel and departure for tours. The route includes three towns with their unique and characteristic appearance, famous for their traditional olive and wine production. The landscape between them has vineyards producing quality Controlled Origin and Controlled Area labels such as Grechetto and Sagrantino, and the olive groves producing the, deep green, scented, precious and refined extra-virgin olive oil. Lunch in a local restaurant with local products. We will visit the main monuments of the city as well as the Olive Oil Museum in Torgiano and to a wine cellar in Cannara to taste fine wines. In the evening we will go back to the hotel in Perugia for dinner and overnight stay

Day 3Perugia - Lake Trasimeno - Rome

Perugia – Breakfast at the hotel and transfer for a guided tour of Lake Trasimeno, with tasting of toasted bread and new olive oil.
Visit to the little village of Tuoro; this is the site of the famous Trasimeno battle in 217 BC, the first defeat of the Romans by Hannibal’s troops. The Battle of Trasimeno Permanent Documentation Centre has an exhibition on Hannibal’s campaign, narrating the entire Second Punic War with images. Lunch at a local agritourism farm and then departure for the return journey.
